This year, 70 eateries will showcase their originality and creativity when it comes to the humble burger, with beer matches from local craft brewing legends Garage Project also on the menu.

The five eateries in each category with the highest score go on to battle it out to see who takes home the trophy. Every vote also puts you in the draw to win the ultimate beer and burger experience for you and your mates. Voting will be via this website. More details to come.
In 2013, Ti Kouka Café’s All About Longbush Pork Burger emerged victorious. Chef Shepherd Elliott’s winning creation showcased Wairarapa’s Longbush Pork – featuring free-range pulled pork, smoked roast pork belly and middle bacon, with mint, coriander, chilli oil and crackling sides, hoisin mayo and iceberg lettuce.
In it’s inaugural year in 2013 was the Garage Project Burger Challenge. This award saw the team at Crazy Horse The Steakhouse best match their burger to a Garage Project brew to win a bespoke Garage Project craft beer. Their creation, The Kimchi Burger, with its tangy, crunchy house-cured pickles and kimchi, was a favourite with the judges and was heavenly matched with the big, bold, fruity Angry Peaches brew.
